On the 30th of August at 11 a.m., Moritz Jehnert will defend his Master's thesis on the topic of "Generative AI in IT Consulting Services". Moritz is a Master's student in the Business Information Systems programme and was supervised by Christoph Meyer (msg DAVID) and Kurt Sandkuhl (Chair of Business Information Systems).
Abstract:
When awarding IT projects to service providers, companies tend to focus more and more on price. As a result, service providers find themselves in an enormous price war for projects. The aim must be to offer their own services more favourably than the competition. This means that internal costs must be saved or the company’s own efficiency increased. Since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, there has been growing hope that the technology can be used to support IT service providers. The aim of this thesis is to subdivide the field of IT consulting into various tasks and to examine these for support possibilities through generative AI. To this end, both IT consultants and AI experts are surveyed in expert interviews. The result of the work is that generative AI already has great potential to provide support. In the future, AI models will continue to develop so that tasks can be automated.
