Regional Future Centre MV approved

In December 2019, a joint application of the Universities of Rostock and Greifswald with a number of practice partners (e.g. business associations from MV and Bildungswerk der Wirtschaft) was approved, which aims at the creation of a centre for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MV) to strengthen digital skills in companies. In the funding programme within the framework of the European Social Fund "Future Centres - Supporting SMEs, employees and the self-employed in the development and implementation of innovative design approaches for coping with digital transformation", the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs supports the development and testing of innovative concepts for further training in companies.

The rapidly advancing digitalisation and the increasingly noticeable demographic change are changing our working world dramatically. This offers new opportunities and growth prospects especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. At the same time, there is enormous pressure to adapt. The eastern German states are confronted with the challenges of demographic and digital change to a particular degree and much earlier. This raises the question: How can companies and employees as well as the self-employed be supported in mastering these change processes? This is the field of activity of the "Future Centers".

In five Regional Future Centres in the eastern German federal states of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the aim is to identify the support needs of the regions and sectors and to respond to them, in particular, with tailored training programmes to strengthen the self-learning and shaping skills of SMEs and employees in the transformation processes.
