Instructions for Project Proposals Restructured and Updated

Please be aware that the structure of the proposal instructions in DFG form 54.01 was strongly revised in 2022. These instructions have to be used when preparing the proposal, otherwise DFG will NOT accept your proposal. For more information, please refer to the Information for Research.

Please distinguish between the terms "applicant" and "other persons involved in the proposal".

Applicants are researchers who apply for/are allocated funding and thus receive their own DFG reference number.

Other persons involved in the proposal:

In the Elan portal, you have the option of selecting the roles of co-responsible persons and cooperation partners.

Important! Before entering co-responsible persons and cooperation partners in the Elan portal, please bear in mind that the names of the researchers will be made publicly accessible in the GEPRIS project database (www.dfg.de/gepris) if approval is granted. Please consider - also taking into account the following aspects - whether the contribution made by the researchers is significant and whether this is desired.

Co-leaders are researchers (usually from Germany) who assume significant project responsibility in addition to the applicants (joint project management). It is assumed that these persons are eligible to submit proposals to the DFG, that they have completed their doctorate and that they are not themselves applying for funding as part of the submitted project and are not to be funded by it.

Cooperation partners: Academics at universities and research institutions abroad who are significantly involved in the project.

New: → Please note points 6.4 and 6.5 of the new guidelines for submitting applications, in particular the reference to any agreements on cooperation / cooperation commitments to be attached, as well as the note to select the supplementary feature that is most likely to apply in most cases - General international research cooperation - in the Elan portal (if necessary).
