The biomedical research of the IIB provides support especially for small and medium-sized enterprises in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in acquiring unique selling points and leading technological positions, as well as in expanding their portfolios of innovative products: It thus strengthens the competitive position and innovative power of such businesses working in the medical device segment in the region. The technology transfer that we facilitate both improves the general structure of the regional economy and contributes to the strengthening of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as a centre of research and development. At the very centre of these activities are development projects with regional business partners for the development of biomedical technology platforms and for identifying new applications for implants, bioabsorbable materials and functionalised surfaces.

Our goal is to strengthen the innovative capacity of our SME partners and to develop the regional innovation network in the field of biomedical devices and biomaterials research, as well as in allied areas of technology-intensive research and development. Research and development collaborations are currently established with regional industrial partners from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern shown above.
