Professor Conraths was Vice President of the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI), Federal Research Institute for Animal Health, based on the island of Riems, Greifswald, and headed the Institute of Epidemiology at the FLI. The work of the FLI focuses on the health and welfare of farm animals and the protection of humans from zoonoses, i.e. infections that can be transmitted between animals and humans.

Professor Conraths supported the professorship with lectures in the field of epidemiology in the ‘Animal Husbandry and Health Management’ module from the winter semester 2014/2015 to the winter semester 2021/2022.
