Professor Louton has been the head of the professorship since 01 August 2020. She studied veterinary medicine at the Free University of Berlin and is a trained veterinary specialist for animal hygiene and husbandry as well as a veterinary specialist for animal welfare.
Current research activities focus in particular on animal welfare. In addition to the projects on poultry, studies are also carried out on cattle, pigs and other farm animals.

- Transport and slaughter of poultry
- Husbandry conditions of broiler
- Husbandry conditions and behavioural disorders in pullets and laying hen
