Investigation of the use of alternative visualizations of physical objects in the education of designers and their influence on the development of spatial imagination

Researcher Dr.-Ing. Stefan Zorn

There is a strong correlation between spatial imagination and performance in the field of "descriptive geometry" and "creative design". This cognitive ability, which is thus important for designers and product developers, is therefore also trained in university education, in addition to teaching theoretical content. Alternative, partly new teaching materials (media) are available for this purpose.

The aim of this project is to investigate the influence of the use of alternative modern media on the development of spatial imagination. In the future, the results of this study will help to increase the effectiveness of education in achieving the teaching and learning goals.
